Corneal blood staining after hyphaema.
نویسنده
چکیده
Corneal blood staining has been described as a rare complication of contusion injury in which a hyphaema of relatively long duration and a raised intraocular pressure coexist. It is infrequent after penetrating injuries, in which the tension is usually low, and is occasionally found in association with haemorrhagic glaucoma, occlusion of the central retinal vein, and intraocular tumours (Berliner, 1949; Duke-Elder and Leigh, I965; Rychener, I944; Thygeson and Beard, I952).

Paracentesis as Surgical Intervention in Traumatic Hyphaema: Opinions and Practices of Nigerian Ophthalmologists
INTRODUCTION Various aspects of management of traumatic hyphaema are enmeshed in controversy. Surgery is done to prevent complications: optic atrophy and corneal blood staining occurring if a high risk exists of either or both occurring. Circumstances considered high risk do not enjoy universal consensus. OBJECTIVES To determine what Nigerian ophthalmologists consider absolute indications for...
متن کاملMedical and surgical management of spontaneous hyphaema secondary to immune thrombocytopenia.
The medical and surgical management of an unusual case of spontaneous 'black ball' hyphaema complicated by secondary haemorrhage, raised intraocular pressure and corneal blood staining, and secondary to immune thrombocytopenia is presented. The literature is reviewed with particular reference to the aetiology and treatment of spontaneous hyphaema and the role of intravenous immunoglobulins in t...
متن کاملModification of trabeculectomy to avoid postoperative hyphaema. The 'guarded anterior fistula' operation.
The effect of varying the position of a trabeculectomy fistula on the rate of postoperative hyphaema was studied in a prospective randomised trial. One eye of each of 78 consecutive patients with primary open angle glaucoma and exfoliation glaucoma was allocated to one of two groups. In group A the fistula was fashioned anterior to the scleral spur, entirely in corneal tissue. In group B the fi...
متن کاملSpontaneous hyphaema and corneal haemorrhage as complications of microbial keratitis.
Hyphaema developed spontaneously in 16 of 458 patients with microbial keratitis treated at two centres on the East and West Coasts of the United States. Chronic corneal conditions were often present, and three cases had rubeosis iridis. Inflamed iris vessels were assumed to be the source of the haemorrhage. The hyphaemas tended to persist longer than is usual, particularly when coincident with ...
متن کاملViscoelastic evacuation of traumatic hyphaema.
A technique for the safe evacuation of traumatic hyphaema is described. The viscoelastic properties of Healonid are used to separate the hyphaema from other ocular tissues and to extrude it through a small corneal incision. Healonid maintains a deep anterior chamber and a stable intraocular pressure. It also protects the lens, cornea, and iris and allows clear observation.
